NEARI President Larry Purtill will be one of the speakers addressing the crowd this Monday, April 4 at the Multicultural Center at URI, starting at 4 in one of dozens or WE ARE ONE rallies being held across the country. In an effort to commemorate the death of Martin Luther King Jr., thousands of workers, families, students, and members of organized labor will be coming together to tell their representatives that what is occuring in Wisconsin, Idaho, New Jersey and states across the country is wrong.
Purtill said, "At a time when corporations are making billions in profit and the rich are getting tax cuts, it is motrally wrong and fiscally irresponsible to cut education, not provide health care and ship good paying jobs elsewhere. It is time to stand up for what made this country strong; collective bargaining and a strong middle class."
Join Purtill and others to send the message that Rhode Island will not be the next Wisconsin!
