Larry Purtill called the recommended pension changes from the Governor and Treasurer unacceptable. Raising the age to 67 is not only unfair but has unattended consequences to cities and towns who now will pay top step employees much longer than usual. This is cost shifting from the state to local municipalities.  Suspending COLA's for up to 19 years, after people paid one of the highest contribution rates in the country is unfair, probably illegal and removes money from the economy. There are groups out there promoting this and it will happen unless you speak up.

Hearing on pensions for teachers, state employees and municipal employees in the state system will be next Wednesday, October 26, starting at 11 Am and running in to the evening. Depending on logistics, we may be planning local events on the 25th. Set aside the dates. THIS IS ABOUT YOUR FUTURE.
