The hearing on the Treasurer and Governor's proposed legislation on pensions is scheduled to begin tomorrow at 11 in Room 35 at the State House. If you come, we will have staff there to steer you in the right direction; help you sign up to testify, head to the viewing room and postcards to write to your state rep and senator.
If you plan on testifying, please remember that they may limit you to two or three minutes so keep that in mind as you prepare your comments. The first hour or two of the hearings tomorrow will be a presentation by union leadership. President Purtill will be leading off with AFT President Frank Flynn and 94 President Mike Downey. They will be followed by acturial and legal presentations and a follow up by others, including Executive Director Bob Walsh.
It will be a hectic day at the State House as EngageRI, the group supporting the bill and funded by unnamed sources, although Amica Insurance is on the list, is holding a rally in the afternoon. They are not us.
