Article 7 of the budget, pension changes passed 50-24 in the House late this afternoon. The amendments failed but moving the highest five years back to three only failed by one vote, 38-37. As I write this at midnight, they are still in session but our issues are over except the vote on mayoral academies. Many of our members will wonder if all their lobbying paid off because of these changes and yes they are bad, but also realize what we were able to defeat such as the April 1 deadline, the removing of the COLA in the Governor's budget and age 65 in the Commission's report. We also have the legal battle ahead. So far no anti collective bargaining legislation has even been brought up for a vote. The continuation of the contract bill is still very much alive in the House and it is important you let your rep know you support it. Keep checking here, it is not over yet.
