Today would be a great day to call your rep regarding binding arbitration for teachers. Talking points are listed here on the web. The hearing is scheduled for this Wednesday in House Labor. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, groups like the Rhode Island Statewide Coalition, formerly the Shoreline Coalition, are making an all out push to defeat this. They are using half truths and falsehoods to promote their agenda. They want collective bargaining to be limited to wages only. I guess their are two questions for you. Do you want elected officials, school committees, with no educational background making decisions on what is best in the classroom and do you think the East Providence situation is helping the educational process and the students of that community. If your you answered no to both; then you need to call your rep today?
