I am pleased to share my candidacy for the office of Assistant Treasurer. As a skilled and seasoned treasurer of the Burrilliville Teachers Association and NEARI Statewide Local Member Organizing Co-Coordinator, I feel I am already and uniquely positioned to do the fiscal work of a treasurer and because of my leadership, serve on the NEARI executive board. I am exacting with finances and I update and maintain accurate rosters tirelessly. In my ten year tenure, I have established good working relationships with my local payroll department, BTA executive committee, and NEARI staff. As a local and statewide organizer, I not only introduce new teachers to our organization, but, as a coordinator, I’ve trained and worked with local leadership and members from all around the state.
As a local treasurer, I establish and report on our budget, reconcile membership rosters, sign and send the checks for dues payments, yearly stipends, scholarships, and the like. Since I’ve started, I’ve transitioned us into online banking and electronic tax filing. This modernizes us and provides double the amount of records and accountability to our membership in the management of our money. I am thorough, precise, and responsive to all BTA financial needs and queries.
In my appointment as the Secondary Vice President, I served on the negotiating committee several times, was the parliamentarian, and PR & R chair. In my capacities as member organizer, I’ve served as the NEARI Ed Summer Co-Coordinator, organized in the rESPect campaign, surveyed member interests, and canvassed for local candidates. I am both a Statewide Member Organizer Coordinator and local organizer. I’ve been a Sandy Hook Promise Leader since 2016, so was selected by Larry Purtill and served on the Governor’s Gun Safety Working Group, am an alumnus of Leadership for a Future 2020, and have attended and been trainer/presenter/facilitator in statewide conferences. I have attended many national leadership conferences and was on the committee that established the first NEARI Mental Health Summit.
I would appreciate your consideration to vote to appoint me as the NEARI Assistant Treasurer. My service, experience, and loyalty to this organization are evident and steady. I’m confident that as the assistant treasurer, I’d be ready on day one to competently fulfill all of the tasks and responsibilities this position requires. I would be very honored to serve you in this capacity.
