CCRI ESPA vote no confidence in Hughes, Ogden

Cranston, R.I. (December 18, 2020) – An overwhelming majority of the 184-member education support professionals local at the Community College of Rhode Island yesterday voted no confidence in the management of CCRI President Meghan Hughes and CCRI Associate Vice President for Administration Alix Ogden.

“Our members are the lowest paid employees at CCRI, yet we have been the most severely impacted from your administration’s poor institutional management. While 16% of our members’ jobs have been eliminated, high-level administrator positions have ballooned on your watch,” said CCRI ESPA President Michael McNally in a letter to Hughes and Ogden notifying them of the no confidence vote.

To regain the confidence of the CCRI ESPA members, McNally wrote that leadership must engage in dialogue with the union, assure the workers who were reassigned to answer the public health need at the Department of Health that they have jobs to which they can return, and treat the entire membership with the dignity and respect they deserve.
